When you own a home that’s 50 years old, things tend to wear and eventually break. Unfortunately, finding original parts for Eichler homes can be difficult at times, so it’s nice to know where to find replacement parts when they are available.
Recently our latch lever for the original Arcadia sliding glass door to our atrium broke, and I was faced with finding a replacement. The last thing I wanted to do was change the lock, especially since ALL of our sliding doors are original and in excellent condition. Much to my surprise, I found Swisco with honestly little effort and some “focused” searches on Google. There were actually 2 companies that carried the replacement, but Swisco was about half the cost of their competitor. The cost for a single latch lever is $5.98 plus shipping and handling for only $2.95. Replacement was a cinch, and it took about 5 minutes, if that, to replace the latch lever. If you ever need original latch levers, go to Swisco at www.swisco.com and look for part number 82-250.
