RIP Julius Shulman, Famed Modernist Architectural Photographer

Julius Shulman, who documented the Southern California modernist movement for over seven decades and was most famous for his iconic photo of the Stahl House cantilevered over the sparkling lights of LA (also known as the Koenig Case Study House #22), died last night at 98 years old. Although in a walker and in declining health, he worked right up until the end. Here are a few articles from just this year:

TED Talks: Eames Demetrios provides insight into his grandparents' design sensibility

Any design buff, not just mid-century modern aficionados, knows the Eames name. Here's a presentation by Charles & Ray's grandson, Eames Demetrios, which is a little disjointed but still provides some interesting deep insight into the thought process of this incredible design team, including the multi-faceted, renaissance-style approach to various media concurrently (i.e. film, furniture design & architecture). 580 Eastbound access changes tomorrow (Tuesday July 7)

Just a reminder that starting tomorrow, there will be a change (for the better for us Greenridge dwellers) in our off-ramp from 580 East. Instead of getting off at Center Street, the exit will now be at Grove Street, across the street from where the current Eastbound on-ramp is and a block closer to us.

For more information on the entire 580 improvement project and detailed maps, visit www.actia2022.com/I-580.html.
