Although they normally are open sometime in May, our local swim facilities run by the EBPRD will be opening a little later this year. Cull Canyon is scheduled to open at Noon June 20, and Don Castro (which was closed for renovation last year) on July 6 also at Noon. Full details are here.

This is pretty incredible. Someone has built the familiar George Nelson bench (retail about $700 depending on what size you get) out of LEGO plastic toy blocks. And it looks great!

It's ok that we're not near Disneyland - you can enjoy magical sparkling wonderland of lights at the Oakland Zoo just up the road during their annual "Zoo Lights" evenings now through January 3.
